Control of Bleeding Duodenal Ulcer



34 year-old man with hematemesis (vomiting blood), melena (black, tarry stools) and severe anemia. Emergency endoscopy revealed a duodenal ulcer with an active bleeding site, seen at the 12 o'clock position over the duodenal bulb outlet (LEFT). The tip of the heater probe is seen approaching the bleeding site in the middle of the ulcer base (CENTER). Mucosal defect at the cautery site, with bleeding controlled (RIGHT).
