Esophageal Adenocarcinoma

Left: 77 year-old man with dysphagia, found to have an ulcerated, constricting tumor of the distal esophagus. Located several centimeters above the esophagogastric junction, this is consistent with an adenocarcinoma arising in a segment of Barrett's esophagus. Right: Esophageal metastasis: a second focus of raised, ulcerated adenocarcinoma in the distal esophagus, located 4 cm below the lesion shown above, with a segment of grossly normal esophagus between the two lesions.

36 year-old man with several months of dysphagia and weight loss. Left: Endoscopy revealed 15 nifedipine tablets entrapped within the esophagus, above a malignant-appearing stricture (center) at the esophago-gastric junction. Right: Close-up of the ulcerated stricture.
