year-old woman with dysphagia (difficulty swallowing) to solids. Endoscopy
revealed a complex array of squamous cell carcinoma. An ulcerated mass was
present in the lower third of the esophagus (LEFT), with small satellite lesions
extending upward towards the midesophagus (RIGHT).
The
middle third of the esophagus was replaced by circumferential tumor (LEFT). A
spherical submucosal mass with a small ulcer was present in the upper third of
the esophagus (RIGHT). All lesions contained squamous cell carcinoma on biopsy.
