Mucosal Regeneration


69 year-old woman with malnutrition and a history of peptic ulcer disease. Endoscopy revealed this mottled appearance of the mucosa of the gastric antrum. Microscopically there was chronic inflammation, mucosal regeneration, and some intestinal metaplasia. Helicobacter pylori was not present. A small antral inflammatory polyp is also present.
