Gastric Bezoar

Left: 69 year-old man with diabetes mellitus and end-stage renal disease with gastroparesis (delayed gastric emptying), who presented with nausea, postprandial vomiting and early satiety. Endoscopy demonstrated a phytobezoar (cohesive mass of undigested plant material).

Right: 59 year-old man with nonspecific abdominal discomfort. There was no history of diabetes mellitus. Endoscopy revealed a cohesive, formed mass of retained ingested material. The pylorus was widely patent.

Left: 67 year-old man with post-surgical gastroparesis, having undergone partial gastrectomy several years previously. Phytobezoar found at endoscopy. The gastric outlet was widely patent.

Right: Phytobecoar in a 50 year-old man with diabetic gastroparesis. Presenting symptoms were early satiety, intermittent vomiting and weight loss.
