
Left: 69 year-old man with diabetes mellitus and end-stage
renal disease with gastroparesis (delayed gastric emptying), who presented with
nausea, postprandial vomiting and early satiety. Endoscopy demonstrated a
phytobezoar (cohesive mass of undigested plant material).
Right: 59 year-old man with nonspecific abdominal discomfort.
There was no history of diabetes mellitus. Endoscopy revealed a cohesive, formed
mass of retained ingested material. The pylorus was widely patent.
